Borjomi park
The town is famous for its mineral water industry, the Romanov summer palace in Likani, and the World Wide Fund for Natural preservations – Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. Borjomi mineral water is particularly well known in former Soviet Union countries; the bottling of mineral water is a major source of income for the area. Borjomi is also home to the biggest ecologically-themed amusement park in the Caucasus.
Kakhisi lake
lake in Borjomi municipality. Located in the western part of the Trialeti mountain Range, on the watershed of the Chobishevi and Dvirul rivers, at an altitude of 1,752 m above sea level. The average depth is 6.4 m. It is a nice place for the picnic. This beautiful place is located on a one-hour drive from Borjomi.
Rabati fortress
Rabati is a fortress in Akhaltsikhe. Originally established in the 9th century as the castle of Lomisa. Most of the surviving buildings date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. According to the book – “Georgian Chronicle”, the city was founded in the 9th century by Guaram Mampal, the son of King Tao. From the 13th to the end of the 14th centuries, it was the capital of Samtskhe-Saatabago, ruled by the Georgian princely family and the ruling dynasty of the Principality of Samtskhe, the Jakeli House.
Khertvisi fortress
Khertvisi fortress is one of the oldest fortresses in Georgia and was functional throughout the Georgian feudal period. It is situated in Southern Georgia, in Meskheti region. The fortress was first built in the 2nd century BC. The church was built in 985, and the present walls were built in 1354. As the legend says, Khertvisi was destroyed by Alexander the Great.
Vardzia cave town
The monastery complex and the city carved into the cliff. “In order to hide her location, King Tamar ordered to carve out three hundred and sixty-five rooms in the cliff, as many rooms as there are days in a year; One day was assigned for the construction of one room, and the construction was completed within one year.”
Saphara monastery
The monastery has existed from at least the 9th century, and many important figures in Georgian church history were among its monks. At the end of the 13th century, Sapara became the property of the Jakeli family, whose head, Sargis Jakeli, had good relations with the Mongols, which allowed Samtskhe to enjoy the peace unusual for that time
Bakuriani ski and summer resort
Bakuriani is a ski resort. Urban village in the Borjomi region of Georgia. It is located on the northern slope of the Trialeti Ridge, at an altitude of 1700 meters above sea level. The area around Bakuriani is covered with coniferous forests. The resort is connected to the city of Borjomi by the historical railway – “Kukushka”. The modern Bakuriani area is created on the ground from lava flows from the nearby Mukhera volcano.
