Georgian music reflects the history of Georgian nation, like a mirror. Throughout the centuries, together with the national songs, Georgian people were creating and developing national musical instruments. All the regions of Georgia have their own and unique musical dialects. Approximately 15 of such dialects exist in Georgia. Georgian polyphony is the oldest type of traditional singing and presents the character
of the Georgian folk music. Georgian polyphony is the unique in the world and in 2001 UNESCO proclaimed it as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
